Sean Michael Hayes

Sean Michael Hayes grew up in the 1970s and '80s in a suburb of Massachusetts, one of seven children sharing a single bathroom and somehow still making it to school on time every morning. It was a childhood spent almost entirely outdoors — fishing, wiffle ball, metal detecting, and whatever else the neighborhood could invent — and it left him with a lasting fondness for that era and the family who shaped it.

After college, Hayes spent five years traveling the world as a Marine Engineer before eventually settling into a long career as an engineer for an electric power utility company — a job that, unexpectedly, became the spark for Converted. He originally wrote the story as a screenplay before adapting it into this novel, the first in a planned trilogy.

He is deeply grateful to his two sons, the greatest a father could ask for, and to his sisters, who remain a constant source of support.

Hayes is currently working to bring Converted to the screen
