Kye Kim

Kye Kim is a Korean artist and illustrator based in the Chicago area. She studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she explored oil painting, hand-drawn animation, woodworking, and visual storytelling.

Throughout her creative life, Kye has worked across many different forms of art, from painting and comics to illustration. She has always especially enjoyed drawing animals, finding their shapes, personalities, and expressions a playful way to tell stories.

After taking a break from art, Kye rediscovered her creative passion through motherhood and the simple joy of reading picture books with her young son. That experience inspired her to begin creating stories and illustrations of her own.

Her first picture book grew from a real family story and a desire to turn a meaningful memory into something that could be shared and kept. Her work is inspired by everyday moments, family, imagination, memories, and the small experiences that can mean so much.

Through her books and illustrations, Kye hopes to create stories that feel warm, playful, and comforting, books that children enjoy and that hold a little something meaningful for the grown-ups reading beside them.
