Julie Oswin

Julie Oswin was born in Quorn, Leicestershire, the youngest of five children and daughter of Harold & Vera Dermott (deceased). Julie is a very proud mother of her two gorgeous daughters, Jayne & Clare. Taking photography seriously after the birth of her two daughters, Julie subsequently spent three years studying photography at Loughborough College and then went on to teach City & Guilds Photography on a part time basis for 10 years after her youngest daughter went to school in 1994.

Julie qualified as a Licentiate with both the Royal Photographic Society and the British Institute of Professional Photographers qualifying as an Associate in Wedding Photography 2001.

Julie's image which was featured on the front cover of her book 'Contemporary Wedding Photography' was awarded the UK Classical Wedding Photographer of the Year UK in 1999. Becoming the UK Avant Garde Wedding Photographer of the Year in 2001 with her shot of the bridesmaids, featured in the book. She has received numerous photographic awards for her photography during the last 18 years. Her recent photographic award is The BIPP's Midlands Wedding Photographer of the Year 2012.

Contemporary Wedding Photography was compiled and written during 2006 with her x partner, and published in the December of 2006. The book was based on the planning of wedding photography and capturing the photographs that tell the story of the day. The book was written as a cross platform for both photographers and wedding couples. Digital technology in 2006 was taking over from film and the book written in 2005 covered a few basics in digital photography. A completely different approach to today's digital technology.
