Zachariah Rush is a poet, writer, critic, filmmaker, artist, and librettist. He was born in Manchester, England but currently lives in San Jose, California.
He is the author of the book 'Beyond the Screenplay: A Dialectical Approach to Dramaturgy' (2012); an analysis of dramatic structures from Sophocles to Orson Welles using the scope of Hegelian dialectic.
Zachariah is a contributing film critic to the Directory of World Cinema series published by Intellect Books, UK. Volumes contributed to include: 'Japan Vol. 2,' 'East Europe,' 'France,' 'India,' 'Latin America,' 'Belgium,' and 'Sweden.'
Zachariah is also a contributor to the World Film Locations series, again published by Intellect Books, UK. Volumes contributed to include the cities: 'Paris,' 'Marseille,' 'Las Vegas,' and 'Prague.'
Zachariah's critical reviews of books and film have appeared in 'Film International' magazine.
He is currently working on a second book for McFarland that explores Hegelian dialectic as the core source of dramatic power within cinematic characters. (to-be-published 2014).
