Clive Williams

Clive Williams is a native of Gwent in the south-eastern corner of Wales which was home to the ancient British tribe the Silures. Intensely proud of his roots and heritage this Man of Gwent chooses to style himself ‘The Silurist’.

He is very much a ‘hands-on’ kind of person, a trait which reflects itself in his first two publications The Gourmet’s Choice of World Cuisines and The Tipplers Touring Guide to Wales; both emanating from the pleasure the author gets from good food, drink and cookery; and from his love of the open road and meeting new people.

Being mainly self-taught in the culinary arts, one of Clive’s favourite (of multitudinous) topics of conversation revolves around the world of the kitchen. He loves nothing better than picking up new recipes and sharing his own recipes with others.

For more years than he now cares to remember, Clive has delighted in his adventurous excursions in his camper-van (his ‘Winnebago’). Talk to him about holiday-breaks in his beloved Wales, or sojourns amongst his Celtic cousins in Ireland and Scotland, and he will entertain you for hours!

With history being yet another of his passions, it comes as no surprise that Clive chose a nostalgic narration of Wales’ past for the subject matter of his third title, the novel Ceridwen’s Spirituelle Journey Through Wales’ History. In the author’s own words “A sequence of heart-warming stories… woven around important characters and events… from days that have been.”

Clive’s fourth book, Grampa Wil’s Most Wonderful Dream, is, as you have probably guessed correctly, especially for the younger generation. “I was a child myself at one time,” he says …“So writing a children’s book was not that difficult for me… I just had to take myself back in time a bit!” The book is also available in his own beloved Welsh tongue… which he delights in telling you is one of the oldest languages alive in Europe today… and is called Breuddwyd Mwya Rhyfeddol Tad-cu Gwil.

Clive’s latest two works, The Tippler’s Touring Guide to Ireland and The Tippler’s Touring Guide to Scotland, are of course both sequels to The Tippler’s Touring Guide to Wales. “I just simply had to complete my Tippler’s Trilogy” he says, with his customary verve… “Mustn’t leave our Celtic Cousins out!”

And Clive isn’t done yet! His mind is set very firmly on his next exhilarating project in the world of literature. So… watch this space!
