William Coniston has a cosy cottage at Scar Bay that he often visits from his home in West Yorkshire near where Olly and Tilly live. He has known them and Grandpa Peterson for a long time, the Akram family too. He was honoured, when, after stringent security checks, Olly and Tilly introduced him to Aristotle Badger, the wise Chairman of M.I.C.E., who asked him to become the organisation’s current Chronicler. Thus he recorded extraordinary but secret events in ‘M.I.C.E. and the Stone’ (2014-2016) and now ‘M.I.C.E. and the Dragon Worm’ (2017). He has also met a number of Olly and Tilly’s M.I.C.E. friends including Ian, Liam and Jack. The first time was at his Scar Bay cottage one evening when he was watching TV. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted them watching too, from under a sofa. It was a Wallace and Gromit film - naturally they love anything to do with cheese. Now they're regular visitors and keep him up to date with local gossip, some of the less scandalous of which is published on William Coniston’s Facebook Author page and on his Twitter feed.
