Philippe Lemaire

Difficile d'échapper à l'attrait du fantastique quand on a grandi dans un cimetière.

Après avoir appris à marcher dans le cimetière de Cherbourg qui abritait la maison de son grand père (gardien du lieu de repos des défunts), Philippe Lemaire manifeste très tôt une disposition naturelle pour le dessin.

Dissuadé de tenter une aventure professionnelle dans ce milieu hasardeux, il œuvrera pendant une décennie aux Pompes Funèbres Générales avant de tenir un bar / club de billard pendant une autre décennie.

Finalement, sa passion pour le dessin le rattrapera à plus de 40 ans et il sort sa première bande dessinée, "16 rue du repos", fruit d'un travail en collaboration avec l'auteur/éditeur Philippe Ward.

Ce dernier réussira à le convaincre de s'essayer aussi à l'écriture, et la série des Radu Dracula voit le jour en 2011.

Il œuvre aujourd'hui aussi bien dans le domaine de la bande dessinée et de l'illustration que dans l'écriture, le plus souvent sans s'éloigner de son thème de prédilection.

Il est vrai que quand on a grandi dans un cimetière...
