John Waite

John Waite was born in Coventry, England in 1964 and from very early on in life he has nurtured his love of the Roman world.

Initially inspired by his childhood memories of epic films such as Spartacus and Ben Hur, John's fascination grew into a passion to learn more and more about the amazing story of the Roman Empire of the early Imperial period.

As well as both fiction and non-fiction works to his credit, John has given talks and presentations to audiences as diverse as local history groups, friends societies, schools and universities. He has also contributed to a number of documentaries, such as season two of the 'Ancient Assassins' series produced by the Discovery Channel - specifically the episode entitled; 'Rome's Navy Seals'.

With a growing social media presence, John can be found on Instagram as 'JWBRoman' and via his Facebook page; 'John Waite's Britannia'.

When he's not writing, he loves to spend time with his wife Helen and walk in the countryside near his home with Luna and Juno, his two very spoilt dogs. As an ex soldier and police firearms officer John also enjoys putting his old skills to good use and likes nothing better than 'smashing' a few clay pigeons over a weekend.

His two sons, Rob and Marcus, make his life complete.
