Ben Lynch, ND.

I traveled to France in my late 20’s. I was backpacking around Western Europe. I found Paris to be a stunning city with fantastic art museums. My favorite was Picasso’s museum. It was a small museum but there is something about his art that I enjoy.

I recall standing in line behind a bunch of American tourists buying tickets to various museums. They were speaking fast English to the French ticket salesman and I could tell he was annoyed. As I waited in line, I thought of how to ask various questions in French and get the tickets I needed. My heart was beating fast due to nerves when I started speaking to the attendant. We managed to have the conversation successfully and he upgraded my pass to a multiday pass from a single day for no extra charge! And they say French and Americans don’t get along ;) Maybe we just need to try and communicate with each other.

I have yet to present in France but I do look forward to the opportunity. I studied French for five years and spoke it decently while traveling there. Sadly, I’ve since forgotten most of it as the Russian language is what I am speaking mostly now when traveling. Perhaps it will come back to me when I arrive!

Benjamin Lynch, ND received his Cell and Molecular Biology, BS from the University of Washington and his doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine (ND) from Bastyr University.
