Mitchell Ball

Mitchell Ball is an author, respiratory therapist, and lifelong educator with more than 40 years of experience helping patients breathe easier. Throughout his healthcare career, he has believed that every patient has a story worth hearing and every experience has something to teach.

His writing draws from both professional expertise and personal experience. His memoir, The Patient in the Mirror: A Respiratory Therapist’s Journey from Caregiver to Patient, chronicles his unexpected journey through illness and recovery after becoming the patient he had spent decades caring for. His book, When the Last Witness Is Gone: Our Responsibility to Remember, is a heartfelt reflection on the importance of preserving Holocaust remembrance for future generations.

Mitchell is also passionate about the outdoors. Based in Hollywood, Florida, he is the founder of the All About Paddling community, where he enjoys introducing others to kayaking and paddleboarding while exploring the scenic waterways of South Florida. His love of nature and adventure inspired his guidebook, West Lake Park: A Paddler’s Guide to One of South Florida’s Hidden Treasures.

Whether writing about healthcare, history, or the natural beauty of Florida, Mitchell’s goal is simple: to educate, inspire, and encourage others through stories that inform, preserve memories, and celebrate the human spirit.

When he isn’t writing, you’ll find him on the water with a paddle in hand, exploring a new trail, or speaking with readers about the experiences that have shaped his life and books.
