Field-based study of the canvasback duck (Aythya valisineria) based on long-term observation at the Delta Marsh in Manitoba, examining breeding behavior, courtship, nesting, migration, population dynamics, and habitat use. Produced in cooperation with the Wildlife Management Institute and Ducks Unlimited, the book documents mid-twentieth-century research central to the development of modern waterfowl management and conservation practice in North America. The second edition incorporates supplementary notes, a new preface by Ira N. Gabrielson, and an expanded bibliography.
