Item description from seller

Dyeline paper map 113x141cm, 1:500,000, dated 26 May 1980, curiously with a single revision that predates the map itself (10-8-78). Good or better, neatly folded, with closed tears and some spotting. An unusual in-house operational document with no other copies or references found. Worldcat lists a related map of Hofuf by Sceco (1981). Early on, Aramco needed to build an electricity network to connect its operations in Eastern Province. Over time, this became part of the Saudi grid. In 1976, the Saudi Government formed the Saudi Consolidated Electric Company for Eastern Province (Sceco-East) to manage the facilities, and asked Aramco to provide managerial, service and admin staff in its early years. When this map was issued, Abdallah Jumah was its Director (1980-83). He was also Vice President of Aramco's Power Systems Department, and went on to become Saudi Aramco's President and CEO (1995-2009). Jumah oversaw the construction of power plants to meet growing demand, and started the process of separating Sceco from Aramco in 1982. The map area is bounded by the Neutral Zones (NW), Gulf coast including Bahrain (E), and Riyadh (SW). It shows existing and planned locations and links for communication transmission stations (microwaves), oil installations, clinics, coastguard station, cement works, and other key locations. Numerous other strategic features include international boundaries (noting these "must not be considered authoritative", including maritime boundaries for Bahrain and the Neutral Zone), defensive installations (air to air gunnery ranges, artillery, small arms etc), and the Dammam to Riyadh Railroad with stations named. Also marked are settlements and ruins, various types of road, pipelines, transmission lines etc.
