Alain Laboile resides with his family in a village in the southwest of France. A sculptor by trade, he acquired his first camera only a few years ago. But soon his six children and their natural and uninhibited lifestyle came to dominate his camera's attention: "Through my photographic work I celebrate and document my family life: a life on the edge of the world, where intemporality and the universality of childhood meet. Though my work is deeply personal, it is also accessible, addressing human nature and allowing the viewer to enter my world and reflect on their own childhoods." Born on May 1, 1968 in Bordeaux, France, Alain Laboile is a photographer and father of six. In 2004, as he needed to put together a portfolio of his work as a sculptor, he acquired a camera, and thus developped a taste for macrophotography, spurred by his passion for entomology. Later on, he pointed his lens towards his growing family which became his major subject : a life on the edge of the world, where intemporality and the universality of childhood meet. Jock Sturges is a fine art photographer living in Seattle, Washington in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Best known for his nudes and extended portraits of families in Northern California counter-culture communities, Ireland and on French naturist beaches, his large format images borrow significantly from classical periods in both photography and nineteenth and early twentieth century painting. Represented by 26 galleries in ten countries, Mr. Sturges work is also to be found in the collection of many of the world s museums including The Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris and The Frankfurt Museum of Modern Art in Germany. His published works include Jock Sturges, Scalo, Zurich, 1996, published in conjunction with a major exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt and another Scalo monograph entitled Jock Sturges New Work 1996 2000 was published in October, 2000. Other titles to his name include: The Last Day of Summer, Aperture, NY, 1992; Radiant Identities, Aperture, NY 1994; 25 Years, with the Paul Cava Gallery, Philadelphia 2004; Evolutions of Grace, Gakken, Tokyo, 1994 and Notes, Aperture, NY, 2005. His most recent books are a large color monograph entitled LIFE ~ TIME with Steidl Verlag in Germany, and a new black and white Aperture monograph, Misty Dawn, Portrait of a Muse, based on 26 years of work with one of his best known Cal.
