Item description from seller

Illustrated by 30 Photogravures (collated 30), 120 full page duotone plates (collated 118*) and more than 1100 half-tone cuts of birds in life, nests, eggs, and haunts from photographs chiefly by Donald R. Dickey, Wright M. Pierce, Wm L. Finley and the author, together with 44 drawings in text and a Series of 110 full-page color plates (collated 111*) by Major Allan Brooks. Format De Luxe Sunset Stated first printing & edition. Sold only by subscription: Copy No. 114/350 (No. 114 in all volumes). 4 volumes. Burgundy faux leather with gold half-circle sculpted topboard titles, thick gloss paper issue, uncut, teg. Signed by author volume 1. Folio. pp. xvii, (1), 522; xii, (2), 523-1034; xiv, (2), 1035-1548; xiv, (2), 1549-2121. Analytical Keys, Index. Near Fine/No jacket, as issued/Ex-Lib. Dedicated to Ellen Browning Scripps (financier). Smith College Library Bookplates each volume, one perforated title page stamp and one small line of neat pen numbers. Set repaired, reinforced and cleaned by our in-house binder KTB. Endpapers were previously replaced for the Mortimer Rare Book Room (rear V.1 ticket). All indexed illustrations were hand collated. Photogravures have a lightly toned paper and with the color plates, have captioned tissues printed green with only one tissue dogear which was straightened. Pages are internally fine with the exception of ten preliminary pages in Volumes 1 and 3 with faint fore-edge dampstain. [*Why I decided to count the prints as I was collating, I can not say only that an error was discovered: from the 4 volumes of indexed plates there were 260 total, but there was a duplicate 1924 in V.4 resulting in 259. The duotones are 118 (not 120) and the color plates are 111 (not 110), with photogravures correctly listed as 30.check for yourself]. Oversize (>40 lb before packing: Domestic post recommended).
