A propos de cet article

Complete in two volumes. 2nd printing, published three months after the first. Books appear unread, with a bit of wear to spine heads. Gilt top edges to text block. In Volume I, on front endpaper: 'Inscribed, Apl. 14, 1915, for the Authors' Club's sale of books by members to raise funds for aiding the victims of the greed and barbarity bled in dear old Germany by sudden wealth and Russian militarism./ Henry Holt.' Opposite, on inside cover, is an Authors Club Library bookplate signed by illustrator George Wharton Edwards (who, incidentally, designed the bookplate in 1897). In Volume II, on front endpaper: 'Inscribed in Vol. I by Henry Holt.' First couple of leaves are unopened (see photos). Holt, who of course founded and ran one of the world's great publishing houses, was a paranormal enthusiast, and 'On the Cosmic Relations' developed out of that interest. There's at least one interesting coinage, on page 94: 'There is another new force of which we see evidences of the alleged spiritual mediums. I call it psychokinesis.' A fascinating work that has stayed periodically in print, sometimes in its 1919 updated form, as 'The Cosmic Relations and Immortality.' Uncommon signed. Lacking the presumably plain dust jacket. 3.5 pounds and 989 pages total. U.S. buyers, contact me for a possible discount.…

Description de la boutique

Hi all! I've been accumulating volumes for well over half my life, mostly autographed and inscribed copies. Wrote a book on book collecting for a Random House imprint in 2004 and another, "Book Collecting Now: The Value of Print in a Digital Age," for Chatwin Books, published in 2019. I intended to keep most of these books forever, but my wife and I decided to move to Manhattan, which meant downsizing from an enormous suburban house, with practically unlimited bookshelf space, to an apartment in Greenwich Village. So hello, AbeBooks!…
