A propos de cet article

1st printing of the first Canadian hardcover edition scarcely SIGNED by the late author and artist, Kathleen Daly Pepper, on the title page in blue ink. A study of Canadian artist James Wilson Morrice that includes a Preface by Group of 7 member A. Y. Jackson. The book is bound in yellow cloth. The corners and spine ends are sharp. It is marred only by old tape stains on the front paste-down. The jacket is crisp and price intact. Sunning to the spine with chips and tears at the heel and crown. There are the remnants of an old tape repair to the reverse side of the jacket at the crown of the spine. A short tear at the top edge of the rear hinge. Uniform tanning and surface wear to the white back panel and rubbing to the surface of the top edges of the front and back panels. This study includes numerous color and b&w reproductions of Morrice's work. Between 1930 and 1956, artist Kathleen Daly's work was shown in all the main exhibitions in Canada, and also in London, England. She exhibited at Hart House at the University of Toronto (1935), the British Empire Exhibition (1936), in the exhibition "A Century of Canadian Art" (1938) and at the Tate Museum in London (1938). She exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and the Ontario Society of Artists. In 1999 a retrospective of her work, and that of her husband George Pepper, was shown at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg, Ontario. Daly joined the Canadian Group of Painters in 1934 and the Ontario Society of Artists in 1936. She became an Associate of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1937 and an Academician in 1961. Description de la boutique

Operating continuously since 2004, SIGNAL BOOKS specializes in autographed fiction in collector's condition. All books are 1st printings of the 1st edition, unless otherwise noted. All dust jackets are protected in a clear, acid-free sleeve. And 85% of our book inventory is autographed by the author because SB is located near Toronto, an international hub for author events. Regarding condition, we believe in full and frank disclosure. We describe objects conservatively and thoroughly so you won't have any unpleasant surprises. And you may rely on us to take care in packing your order so it will arrive as described. If you've grown tired of buying from dealers who lack the expertise or the willingness to fully describe flaws or who are purposely vague in their descriptions, buy from us and put that aggravation behind you. We ship in sturdy boxes - NOT self-mailers or padded envelopes. And all sales regardless of purchase price are bubble-wrapped and surrounded by Styrofoam peanuts. Please browse our catalogs, including autographed first books, books signed by deceased authors, books signed and dated in the year of publication and Comic Books-Action Figures.
