A propos de cet article
First edition. Copy of historian O.G. (Orin Grant) Libby Dec.12, 1899 (1864-1952) signed ffep. Full calf, original burgundy gilt print spine title. 8vo. pp. 264. Very Good/No jacket, as issued. This was the second attempt by Massachusetts to form a new state constitution after its 1778 proposal was overwhelmingly rejected by voters. Unlike the first attempt, the 1779-1780 convention was composed of delegates specifically elected for this purpose, establishing the precedent for a constitutional convention distinct from the state legislature. The journal chronicles the creation of the world's oldest functioning written constitution, which became effective on October 25, 1780. JOU118276.
