Complete set of Moulton's definitive edition of the journals produced by the Corps of Discovery, including Atlas, Herbarium and Comprehensive Index. Index signed and inscribed to collector Dirk Schenk: "May your travels be filled with discoveries." All volumes first edition, Blue cloth with gilt spine titling, all jackets present (except for Atlas, which was issued without one). All volumes fine to very good: A few volumes show minor bumping to corners and spine ends; Volume 6 has faint white smudge on front of jacket, tiny chip at the bottom of the jacket backside; Volume 2 with small dark smudge on jacket front; Volume 7 minor rubbing; Volume 5 small closed tear; all volumes with McCracken Research Library stamp on copyright page. A beautiful set of the collection, which was 20 years in the making. Moulton, who calls himself a "documentary historian," poured over the original handwritten journals for this project, adding footnotes with updates on tribes, maps, and plants.
