This is a US first edition hardcover of this title published by Berkley in 1979. IT IS SIGNED & DATED 10-29-82 TO JIM: "THE MOVIE IS BETTER." The jacket is about Fine and unclipped - it states book club edition in the bottom right corner of the flap and you need to be aware the book club edition is the ONLY hardcover printing and thus the true first edition. There is light rubbing to the extremities only. The book is about Fine with page tanning along the vertical page edges the only real issue. The spine is straight, the corners sharp and the spine ends firm. The copyright page confirms the first publication of the novel in 1979, preceded by the screenplay in 1978.
