As new condition forest green boards with gold spine lettering contained in a fine condition non price-clipped color photographic dust jacket. Includes Author Dedication; Acknowledgments; Introduction by Johnny Carson and Index. Illustrated with a section of black-and-white photographic plates. The lower left jacket front contains a rectangular Vero Beach Book Center Autographed sticker. Signed by Ed McMahon with red Sharpie/marker at the center of the half title page. ""My name is Edward Peter Leo McMahon. Junior. And I am one of the very fortunate people who grew up to do exactly what I spent my whole childhood dreaming of doing, even if no one is quite sure exactly what it is that I do." - from the inner front jacket flap. "He regularly gives away millions of dollars to sweepstakes winners. He has sold hundreds of products, frm Alpo dog food to Budweiser beer; he's been seen on thousands of commercials all over the world. He appears with Jerry Lewis every year on the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. But, of course, what Ed McMahon is most famous for is his role as Johnny Carson's straight man on The Tonight Show, history's most epochal talk show. In this warm and sometimes hysterically funny authobiography, the man who made it all look so deceptively easy talks about the brightest stars, the zaniest bits, and the most embarrassing moments both on Johnny's couch and out of camera range. Ed shares insights about the comic genius called Carson, who was not only his on-air partner, but also a deep and long-standing friend. And he reveals the origins of some of modern culture's most memorable utterances - both catchphrases and rallying cries - like "Heeeeeeere's Johnny!", "Hi-yooooo," and "You are correct, sir!" Ed also goes back to his early years - how he broke into radio disc-jockeying while still a teenager and ventured into the infant medium of television, ultimately producing a record of more screentime logged than perhaps anyone else in the industry. He talks candidly about his drinking, his marriages and divorces, and his family, particularly the tragic loss of his son Michael. Finally, he discusses life after The Tonight Show, including his forays into new shows like Ed McMahon's Star Search, one of the most successful syndicated programs on TV, and the WB sitcom The Tom Show. His career spans almost sixty years, and he has shared laughs with everyone from Frank Sinatra and John Wayne to Rosie O'Donnelll and Sinbad. The Ed McMahon story is big. How big is it? It's so big that Ed's own story can be said to be the very story of modern American entertainment itself. And now, "Heeeeeere's . Ed!" - from the inner front and rear jacket flaps.…

Description de la boutique
Vero Beach Books is an antiquarian bookseller with a constantly updated inventory of rare out-of-print books, signed books, children's books, plus a large inventory of ephemeral items such as major U.S. city newspapers going back 100 years and more, golden and silver age fine condition comic books (soon to be added), and many other ephemeral items as well as much more recent popular volumes. We have been in business for 25 years, originally known as Emerson Books (named after one of our owner's favorite authors, to wit, Ralph Waldo Emerson) located back then in Westport, Connecticut. That said, we are here to serve you, to offer you fine quality items that are conservatively described so that you will always be pleasantly surprised and delighted with your purchase. Twenty-five years in the bookselling business has borne out our stellar service oriented reputation; the only difference is that now we are located in the almost always sunny and warm climate of Vero Beach, Florida. Again, we are here to serve you and, as was the case when we were previously known on ABEBooks.com as Emerson Books, we will continue to offer our very popular 100% free search service for those hard to find books rare and out of print books. Oftentimes we are also able to obtain these rare finds at very good discounts to our customers' so it is always worth contacting us in such cases!
