A propos de cet article

Limited to 1,000 copies of which this is #188 signed by the author. Gilt-stamped green cloth. 436pp. Illus. Folding map of the Fraser River Gold Rush of 1858 in the back; Whatcom County provided an important trail to the gold bars and eventually gold fields of the BC interior. The author's signature & publisher's limitation statement is on a custom bookplate affixed to the front paste down. Under it is a handwritten inscription, "To my sweetheart / on our 23rd / Wedding Anniversary / 1949 / Bob from Mildred / with love." Another former owner has printed his name above the title on the title page. Either the same or yet another owner has printed his initials on the bottom edge of the text block. LAID INTO THIS COPY is a full page T.L.S. (typed letter signed) from the Editor-Publisher of the Sedro-Woolley Courier-Times on the newspaper's letterhead. It is address by editor-publisher Frank Evans to a lady in Seattle stating that he was sending her this copy, and adds information including the fact that the author(73 years old) and his wife live on a farm, was a schoolteacher, and paid for the printing of the book from his private funds. Also laid in is a separate facsimile printing of the title page and one chapter. Vg condition with traces of wear to extremities. The gilt is very good. The book was published with a dust jacket, but the dj is lacking with this copy. With the original letter from the publisher, a very desirable copy.…
