A propos de cet article

First Edition; publisher's wrappers; small folio; one of 275 numbered copies; presentation copy; inscribed inside the front cover by Ray, 'for Catherine Froud/ Man Ray/ Dec 1948.' In another hand, there is a small, neat inscription below. Minor wear; just shy of fine. Laid into this copy is the one sheet (folded to make four pages) catalogue of the exhibition. This short-lived gallery devoted itself to a handful of surrealists, this one-man show being an important mark in the artist's later career. The Philadelphia born Ray spent most of his life in Paris, but during the war and occupation, he found refuge in California. All books described as first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted. All books described as first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted.
