First edition, signed limited issue, number 36 of 100 copies printed on handmade paper and signed by the author. The signed issue was published on 10 December 1928, following the trade issue of 23 November. In his introduction, T. S. Eliot gives an extended commentary on the originality of Pound's work, his influences ("Browning and Yeats. Swinburne and William Morris"), and the ways he has been read and misread by his contemporaries. Provenance: Walter Arthur Donnelly (bookplate) - Coman Leavenworth (1920-2007), American poet and Allen Ginsberg's contemporary at Columbia University, where he was chosen over the young Beat for the class award for "Poet Most Likely to Succeed" (Bergman, p. 120).
