A propos de cet article

SIGNED, FIRST EDITION, 1952. Signed on the front pastedown in blue ink by author Dolly Blount Lamar with the inscription, "Lest ye forget", May 3, 1952. Hardcover. Bound in gray publisher's cloth, cover bears gilt stamped illustration atop a dark blue background. Spine also bears blue background with gilt lettering. Illustrated with black and white photograph inserts occasionally throughout. Frontispiece is a full-length photograph of the author, also in black and white. Contains a list of illustrations and a conclusion. Indexed. xii, 286 pp. Illustrated dust jacket is a royal blue with dark blue and off white accents, along with a photograph of Dolly Blount Lamar on the back cover. FROM THE DUST JACKET: "Dolly Blount Lamar has been a well-known figure in the affairs of the South for most part of her eighty-odd years, and this book presents the range of those affairs in the light of personal experiences from Reconstruction days down through the New Deal. her story begins with a brief account of her parents during the war years and then moves on to the trying period of Reconstruction. Her chapter 'Campaigns and Chinquapins' is a vivid narration of her father's efforts to gain a seat in the national congress in the years when disfranchised Southerners were struggling desperately to gain some voice in their own affairs." CONDITION: In VG condition overall, both book and DJ show some wear and discoloration. Even as there is some discoloration within the endpapers, the author's signature and inscription are uncompromised and dark. A generous portion of the book is unfoxed, except for a leaf here and there, the introductory pages, and a number of leaves at the back. Except for the signature, this copy is completely unmarked. Binding is tight. A nice, collectable copy. Full refund if not satisfied.…

Description de la boutique

Since 2005, Shelley and Son Books has been passionate about books, and preserving their importance for current and future generations. We believe that virtue and beauty have a close relationship. By reading we gain knowledge. In knowledge we find things that inform our choices and beliefs. Therefore, as booksellers, we see that books have an aesthetic value and a heuristic value. We specialize in The Inklings, primarily "The Seven'": C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Dorothy Sayers, G. K. Chesterton, George MacDonald, Owen Barfield and Charles Williams. A sub-specialty is our significant collection of Christian Theology. But you'll also find works across the centuries, first editions, signed copies, and even modern books, too, across a broad selection of categories and genres. Customer service is of utmost importance to us, and our friendly staff is always happy to help. We assure our clients books of quality, as each copy is carefully graded and shipped with care. Located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, we can be found on Main Street in Hendersonville, North Carolina, (just south of Asheville). We are primarily an online bookstore, but we invite you to make an appointment for an on-site visit! Shelley and Son Books is owned by Stan Shelley. …
