A propos de cet article
SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, Ron Naveen at the half-title page. First Edition; First Printing indicated. Very Good+ in Very Good+ DJ: Both book and DJ show indications of very careful use. Book shows just a touch of wear to the lower rear corner and a very faint (barely discernible) smudge at the top of the rear panel; the bottom edge of the boards shows a hint shelving soil; there is the lightest dampstain at the bottom of the rear panel and the heel of the backstrip (this hasn't affected the rear endpapes or the text pages; the binding leans ever so slightly, but remains perfectly secure; text clean. DJ shows only a touch of wear: mild rubbing; unclipped; dampstain at the bottom of the rear panel and heel of the backstrip. Overall, no longer pristine, but remains structurally sound and tightly bound, showing minimal wear with a very minor flaw in a DJ in similar condition. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Large Format 4to. 222pp. Profusely illustrated with Photographs in Color by Ron Naveen, Mark Jones, Tui de Roy, and Colin Monteath (175 color illustrations), each of whom has also written at least one of the chapters in the book. Foreward by HRH Prince Edward. Hardback with DJ. With more than 60 trips to the Antartic among them, intrepid explorers and internationally renowned photographers Ron Naveen, Colin Monteath, Tui de Roy, and Mark Jones have created this fantastic voyage of images and reflections on the loneliest, most hostile, and most breathtakingly beautiful landmass on earth. If ever you have considered visiting Antarctica - for whatever reasons, this is the one book which will answer those questions which we, until now, unanswered. It says much for this work - which is described as a voyage of images and reflections by four explorers and photographers, that the final copyright of the book itself is shown as belonging to the Smithsonian Institute. A sign of quality in itself. It would be easy to describe those images as "Outstanding" or "Stunning" - and so they are, but those words are too frequently used for lesser photographs. This is a book which explains the Antarctic in a way in which it has not been explained before. It does so with an excellent mix of text and photography which answer many questions that until now remained unanswered. SIGNED BY AUTHOR. First Edition; First Printing indicated.
