Book shows just a touch of wear to the lower rear corner and a very faint (barely discernible) smudge at the top of the rear panel; the bottom edge of the boards shows a hint shelving soil; there is the lightest dampstain at the bottom of the rear panel and the heel of the backstrip (this hasn't affected the rear endpapes or the text pages; the binding leans ever so slightly, but remains perfectly secure; text clean. DJ shows only a touch of wear: mild rubbing; unclipped; dampstain at the bottom of the rear panel and heel of the backstrip. Overall, no longer pristine, but remains structurally sound and tightly bound, showing minimal wear with a very minor flaw in a DJ in similar condition. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. It says much for this work - which is described as a voyage of images and reflections by four explorers and photographers, that the final copyright of the book itself is shown as belonging to the Smithsonian Institute. A sign of quality in itself. It would be easy to describe those images as "Outstanding" or "Stunning" - and so they are, but those words are too frequently used for lesser photographs. This is a book which explains the Antarctic in a way in which it has not been explained before.
