ABOUT THE BOOK: According to local legend, it was the widowed Isaac Goose's second wife, Elizabeth Foster Goose, who entertained her numerous grandchildren and other youngsters with songs and rhymes that were purportedly published by her son-in-law in 1719. This is the Easton Press FULL LEATHER with CLOTH SLIPCASE edition reprint of the celebrated 1913 London Edition including all of the original illustrations by Arthur Rackham. ONLY 600 OF THESE WERE EVER PRODUCED, THIS BEING # 180. A wonderful collection of classic nursery rhymes and fairy tales, penned by the legendary Mother Goose and illustrated by Arthur Rackham. Mother Goose is the pen-name for the celebrated author of over 100 original fairy tales and nursery rhymes. The author s identity remains unknown, and some believe that she never existed. It was Charles Perrault who first published a collection of Mother Goose s writings in 1697, initiating the fairy tale genre. This collection is accompanied by Arthur Rackham s illustrations. A masterful artist from the Golden Age of Illustration, Rackham s work complements this volume s classic verse. CONDITION: Book is in LIKE NEW condition for its age with no discernible flaws.
