1st edition thus, 1842. A Good book. 8vo., 232 pp., bound in leather spine and tips with black cloth boards title in gilt on morocco label on spine. Ex-library with all faults - call letters on spine, bookplate inside front cover, blind stamp on title page. Covers are worn, some evidence of older repairs. Pencil scribbling on end papers, some occasional light foxing, otherwise text appears unmarked. American Notes for General Circulation is a travelogue by Charles Dickens detailing his trip to North America from January to June 1842. While there he acted as a critical observer of North American society, almost as if returning a status report on their progress. His American journey was also an inspiration for his novel Martin Chuzzlewit. N° de réf. du vendeur 36555
