Jacket Condition: Very Good +. 1st Thus. 4to., 18.6 x 25.2cm red cloth with black stamped illustration to the front and titles and decoration to the spine. 215pp (1) with 8 coloured plates and numerous black and white illustrations by Stuart Tresillian. Original illustrated unclipped dust jacket with 6/-price to the front flap and list of author's children's titles to the rear panel. The only issue to have 8 full colour plates (Richards E1-134). The boards are bright and clean with the black printed illustration contrasting dramatically with the red cloth. There is just a very little rubbing and loss of colour to the upper and lower edge and faint spotting to the edge of the text block. Internally, the book is very good with no inscriptions or book plates and only very light toning to the free endpapers and the occasional area of light spotting. The extremely scarce dust jacket illustrated by Stuart Tresillian is lightly dust stained to the rear panel and has a little creasing along the top edge. However, it is virtually complete, with chips to the head of the spine measuring 1.2cm at most, minimal loss to the fore edge corner and a 4mm chip from the top edge. Closed tears of 0.9 and 3cm to the lower edge of the rear panel. The top edge has a number of closed tears four of over 1cm and a couple of 1-2mm. All in all a VG+ copy in a VG+ scarce dust jacket with beautiful images by an illustrator most famous for his illustrations for Enid Blyton's Adventure series.
