SUBTITLED : `Gothic and Renaissance '. The book opens with a 32 page ` illustrated glossary of technical words. Think : plaster and baluster - among others. Learn more about : transepts. cinquefoiled, vaults, Eltham Palace, workmanship, cloister, pendentives, Church of St. Barbara at Kuttenberg, Siena, Victoria Tower, and receding arches. The b/w drawings in these 233 pages are, like the one of Jacques Coeur's house on page 15, very intricate - but UNattributed. Cond : Boards are khaki brown with a brown leather spine band. (One inch piece missing at top.) Gilt lettering at spine. White - if toned - end-papers. Issued w/o dust jacket (??) Tight in binding. Clean. No names nor marks. Almost collectible ! ! UNcommon in North America. Quote (p. 21) : " The duration o (ibid.) each of these coincides approximately with the century, the transition from each phase to the next taking place chiefly in the last quarter of the century.
