It is organized around 10 common themes that she writes about. Each theme has its own section accompanied by a photo of Holly that represents the theme and an essay that discusses why she writes about that theme. As Holly Wilson started writing poetry as a teenager, and published three chapbooks in her twenties, but this is her first real book. She was active in the Albuquerque, New Mexico, poetry scene in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, but then moved to San Diego, California, for 13 years, during which time she was not as involved in poetry. She returned to Albuquerque in 2012 to an even more vibrant poetry community, which inspired her to start going to readings again and writing new poetry. Assorted Snapshots is a collection of Holly's poems from the 70's, 80s, and 90s, prior to her return to Albuquerque. Before publishing her more recent poetry, she wanted to first put together a collection of her pre-renaissance poems as a tribute to that earlier era of her poetry life. This book is Holly Wilson's documentation of a time of rich poetics for her before she left New Mexico for Southern California. It's a milestone full of insights and tributes to her life before she drifted away from writing for a few years in early 2000's. It is a book divided into chapters or concerns: Nature, Traveling, Time, Poetry, Politics and Love, among others.
