FIRST EDITION. Thick 8vo. (25 cm.) [10]vii-xxviii[2]3-623, i-x[8]p. Illustrated with 31 black and white captioned photographic plates and 29 maps. Errata slip laid in. Black and white photo of the author on the rear panel of the dust jacket. Blue cloth decorated in red with gilt letters and decorations on the front cover and the spine. No noticeable wear to the extremities, covers clean and bright, gilt bright (!), all illustrations in fine condition, else fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket fine and not price-clipped. The historian Richard C Overton spent some time from 1939 to 1945 with the Burlington Railroad as Executive Assistant, Research Director, and Superintendent of the Relief Department. This is a standard work on the Burlington railroad by one with inside knowledge.
