Item description from seller

This was Arnold Haskell's own copy with his bookplate specially designed by Michael Ayrton. Woodcut illustrations by Kay Ambrose. The author was Ballet Director/Head Master at the Royal Ballet School and was married to Alicia Markova's sister Vivienne. He also started the Carmago School with Ninette de Valois in 1930. This copy a true 1st edition (it was reprinted in 1945) has a very good wrapper with minor edge rubbing and pale blue printed soft card wrappers in fine condition, the edges of the paper have browned a little, 16 sepia photos all very good. Unique copy owned by author. 220 pages + 4 pages of adverts at rear. *The Michael Ayrton bookplate (one of 2 he designed for the author) is dated May 7th 1972. about 2 years before the artist died aged 54. It incorporates his famous Minotaur sculptures on paper. (Nice addition to the book).

Description de la boutique

We are a small, single-owner business. We have been operating on and off since 1977 and our stock is varied, leaning towards antiquarian and 19th century with the addition of original aquatint and lithographic, or woodcut engravings. Also maps and Ephemera - in fact, anything interesting on paper really. We have in stock every item we list. We do not use stock photographs, but photograph each item individually. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
