RARE SURVIVING COPY OF VERY FAMOUS STORY. BOOK: Bright Blue Balloon Cloth; Spine 5; Gold grapevine with title on slightly faded spine; Blue top-stain; Green Kent Endpapers with short tear on side seam of FFEP and three pages (See 2454_4). DJ is covered in mylar; Light green with blue tirim; front flap is worn thru; tanning on spine; 169 titles listed at back (see scans). SUMMARY: A group of pilgrims traveling to Canterbury Cathedral compete in a storytelling contest. This overarching plot, or frame, provides a reason for the pilgrims to tell their stories, which reflect the concerns sparked by the social upheavals of late medieval England.
