A propos de cet article

The Cambridge History of English Literature, 1660-1780, John Richetti — 1st Edition Publication: Cambridge, Cambridge University Press, 2015 Formatting: 8vo, pp. 964. Condition Report: Very Good. The volume remains tightly bound and squarely set, retaining a robust structural integrity without any sagging to the text block. The original red cloth boards are entirely clean, and the gilt tooling to the spine remains notably bright and unoxidised, indicating it has been kept away from excessive damp or sunlight. The text block edges display some mild dusting and faint, superficial blemishes commensurate with standard shelf-wear, but internally, the pages are uniformly bright, crisp, and free from any foxing or marking. The accompanying glossy dust jacket presents very well, exhibiting only light surface scuffing and minor rubbing to the extremities, with no significant tears, loss, or fading. Catalogue Note: This volume is a 2015 hardcover reprint of the first edition, originally published in 2005 as a cornerstone addition to the esteemed 'New Cambridge History of English Literature' series. It retains its original publisher's binding and the protective dust jacket, which notably features the comprehensive contents list across the rear panel rather than a standard blurb. As a heavy, highly referenced academic text, hardcover iterations of this specific volume are increasingly uncommon on the open market; many institutional copies suffer from heavy reading wear, and subsequent commercial print runs often defaulted to the paperback format. An authoritative and expansive collaborative history, this volume offers a profound synthesis of English literature from the Restoration through to the late eighteenth century. Under the editorial guidance of John Richetti, a host of renowned scholars explore the dynamic shifts in literary production, charting the emergence of the novel, the vital contributions of women writers, and the profound intersections between print media, philosophy, and societal change. It stands as an indispensable resource for understanding the cultural and intellectual vibrancy of a transformative era in English letters.…
