Edited by the Old Fag [The Captain was a magazine featuring stories and articles for "boys and old boys", published monthly from 1899 to 1924. It is perhaps best known for printing many of P. G. Wodehouse's early school stories]. Frank John Williams (1931-2022) was an English actor best known for playing the Reverend Timothy Farthing in the BBC television sitcom Dad's Army (1969-1977).

First edition hard back binding in publisher's original maroon cloth covered boards, schoolboy sportsman with his hands in his pockets to the spine and the front board, blocked and lettered gilt back, bevelled edges. Large octavo. 9¼'' x 7¼''. Contains 408 pp with monochrome illustrations and photographs throughout. Usual browning to the pages, spine sun faded, war-time gilt for the spine mixed with aluminium and has consequently oxidised. From the private library and estate of Frank Williams with relative's message to the front free end paper 'Reserved for Mr. Williams'.
