Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. True first British printing. No jacket. Blue boards with white lettering to spine are very good with a little pushing/bumping to corners, a little patchy lifting to top (cloth) surface (mainly to front near spine), the odd small mark, minor patchy darkening (including to spine), the odd small bump/rub to edges and a little wear (pushing/rubbing/bumping) to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Rough cut page edges and bottoms. Pages bit tanned. Odd small mark/scratch/spot of foxing to page edges, tops and bottoms. Publishers blue cloth over boards, very slightly faded, small stain on the comers, gilt title , author and publisher on the spine has now faded away. Overall, a near very good copy. Young, Geoffrey Winthrop ( 1876 - 1958), writer, poet and mountaineer, he was one of the best known figures in mountaineering. His achievements were curtailed by severe injuries in WW1. He was at the leading edge of Welsh rock climbing and was one of the was one of the founder members of the British Mountaineering Council. Neate (1978) 940. Professor Plesch was the Jewish physician who fled Nazi persecution to England in the late 1930s, and the physician of Albert Einstein.
