A propos de cet article

All pictures are of the book for sale. This book is in Denmark, there should be no extra import duties, taxes or delivery charges for EU buyers. While this book focuses on the American market, it is indispensable for anyone interested in plastic as a decorative art form within the realm of kitchenware and dinnerware. At the dawn of the new plastic era, the prevailing concept was: ”Throw it all away!” (Don't worry, it's unbreakable.) It was novel, modern, and practical. It came in cheerful, contemporary colors and was durable enough for everyday use. This book offers a lively, informative study of plasticware designed for the kitchen and dining room, spanning the decades of plastic's early development and its transition from military applications to the mass consumer market between 1935 and 1965. It captures the appeal and charm of these items, which remain widely available on the collectors' market today. In a sense, the book serves as a study of American popular culture, particularly that of the 1950s. The kitchenware is organized by function and listed in alphabetical order: Bowls Butter dishes Napkin rings Utensils Etc. (Bowls, serving pieces, kitchen tools, cutlery, household items). The second half of the book profiles plastic manufacturers and their plastic dinnerware lines—brands such as Arrowhead, Texas Ware, Melmac, Allied Chemical, Fostoria, and Boonton. This single volume provides an excellent overview of the leading companies and their most popular product lines. It features over 480 color photographs, along with catalog excerpts and images of vintage advertisements and promotional materials—including many posters and ads used by these manufacturers in their marketing campaigns. There is also a brief section dedicated to Tupperware. 192 pages, paperback, no signs of use, published 1995, excellent condition, “like new”. Hundreds of color photos. Weight: 1,0 kg. …
