Item description from seller

[LAW]. Basil Markesinis, Michael Coester, Guido Alpa, Augustus Ullstein. "Compensation for Personal Injury in English, German, and Italian Law: A Comparative Outline (Cambridge Studies in International and Comparative Law 40)." Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. Printed in the UK at the University Press, Cambridge, 2005. First edition. English language. Hardcover in black cloth boards lettered silver on spine in glossy dust jacket. Nonfiction academic legal text in six chapters with foreword, preface, table of cases, appendix, and index. 9 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches. 22 oz. xxxvi, 238 pp. Text clean. Fine in Fine jacket. ISBN: 0521846137. "Cross-border claims for personal injuries are becoming more common. Furthermore, European nationals increasingly join class actions in the USA. These tendencies have created a need to know more about the law of damages in Europe and America. Despite the growing importance of this subject, there is a dearth of material available to practitioners to assist them in advising their clients as to the heads of damage recoverable in other countries. This book aims to fill that gap by looking at the law in England, Germany and Italy. It sets out the raw data in the wider context of tort law, then provides a closer synthesis, largely concerned with methodological issues, and draws some comparative conclusions.".

Description de la boutique

I sell uncommon art catalogs, academic monographs, and prints, as well as rare ephemera such as posters and zines. I ship from Brooklyn, New York. I am an alum of the Rare Book School and the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar, as well as Indiana University and the Ohio State University. I started in the trade at the Wexner Center for the Arts bookstore, and I have previously worked for the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago's Department of Prints and Drawings, and the Indiana University Art Museum's center for Prints, Drawings, and Photographs. More recently, I was the rare book cataloger at Donald Heald Rare Books, for whom I worked the ABAA's New York International Antiquarian Book Fair.
