Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. First Edition Thus. 1956. First edition thus. PP [iv], 355-436, with many illustrations. "This book is a reprint of the December 1956 Special Number of the Architectural Review. "This is the sequel to 'Outrage' published in 1955. It shows how a few people in Great Britain and many more on the Continent have overcome the problems, so frequently called insurmountable, of bringing modern life to terms with the landscape. It is certainly easier to represent them as insurmountable if you don't want to spend time and energy on overcoming them, and we believe that this is very often what is happening. Inertia and complacency have dulled the efforts of the very people who ought to be thinking and working hardest not the planning officers, but the committees that control them and the ministries above them. It is easy for them to represent as public apathy what is in fact public helplessness: this book aims to arm the public with arguments against the wrong way and examples of the right way of doing things. Hence it is called Counter-Attack: and hence as we believe that the fate of British landscape is in the balance it is as outspoken and uncompromising as its predecessor." - From the title page description of the book. The book is bound in the original white paper covered boards with red titling on the spine and red titling with an illustration on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with a little wear to the corners. The contents are secure and clean' Previous owner's name to top of the ffep. The illustrated dust jacket is not price clipped and has a little loss to the top and bottom of the spine and to the bottom of the rear panel. Several tears have been repaired to the reverse with document repair tape. There is foxing to the jacket. N° de réf. du vendeur hArchit008
