A propos de cet article

Collectible first edition of prominent Los Angeles District Attorney Raymond I. Turney's early 20th-century perspective on the intersection of human psychology and trial advocacy, exploring how psychological factors influence the outcomes of jury trials and serving as a precursor to modern trial consulting and social science applications in law. Among other notable cases, Turney, as Los Angeles District Attorney, prosecuted the bizarre and infamous Louise Peete (the Enigma Woman), who was charged and convicted of murdering Jacob C. Denton, a wealthy Los Angeles mining executive and oilman. Signed in black ink by Raymond I. Turney and inscribed to prominent Los Angeles jurist and Judge William C. Doran. Doran's copy. (Signature unconditionally guaranteed to pass any COA examination.) Doran, who served several high-level positions in the California legal system, prosecuted the equally infamous trials of Fatty Arbuckle's alleged rape and murder of actress Virginia Rappe at a wild Hollywood party in 1921 and the 1922 Inglewood Ku Klux Klan Raid Trial. Turney and Doran crossed paths numerous times in their careers, often in opposing roles. Uncommon in commerce. 159 pp. 8" x 5 1/2". Tight, extraordinarily presentable copy with crisp corners, minimal wrinkling to head and tail of spine panel, faint age toning to front endpapers and a smattering of small stains to back pastedown. A beautiful copy of an historic and highly important Judicial collectible. Photographs of or additional information about this item are available on request. All inquiries answered promptly.…
