Octavo. 276 pages, clxxvii 'Appendix'. Illustrated. Folding plans, maps. Complete. Red cloth hardcover with gilt title on spine. Front and rear hinge tissue repaired. 5 folding maps in back. The Morris Island map has a couple of edge tears and creased section. Last folding plate "Sections of Fort Sumter" is not securely tucked inside the binding and has a large split at the fold, some light creases, and toning. Maps are in fair to good condition. Light shelf wear to the cloth extremities. 1947 gift inscription written on the right front flyleaf. Howes J 138; Nevins vol. 1 page 33 - "A meritorious collection of data, with useful documents and maps.".
