A propos de cet article

264 pages inc index with photo illustrations, navy cloth spine, and blue paper boards, dustwrapper with minor chips at edges, a little light wear at very edges top and bottom of boards. Contents clean and tight. ex-libris bookplate and signature of art lecturer "John J Gibson" on FFEP, Aubrey Beardsley style. Octavo. 24 x 16 cm. Very Good. *3 years earlier he wrote "Eccentric Spaces" a brilliant new way of seeing art, here he examines the European Romanticism from the 18th century to the 20th, ending with Hitler and Stalin and beginning with Rousseau and Watteau. Rousseau wanting to liberate education from the classroom and Fragonard's passion for painting children playing grown-ups, or Ruskin always staying in his old nursery when going home.

Description de la boutique

We are a small, single-owner business. We have been operating on and off since 1977 and our stock is varied, leaning towards antiquarian and 19th century with the addition of original aquatint and lithographic, or woodcut engravings. Also maps and Ephemera - in fact, anything interesting on paper really. We have in stock every item we list. We do not use stock photographs, but photograph each item individually. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.…
