Contemporary full spotted calf with five raised bands at the spine, title in gilt to red morocco lettering piece in one compartment, decorative blind-stamped borders to the panels; minor bumping and rubbing to extremities, shallow one inch split at head of front gutter, several small wormholes in leather rear panel. AN ATTRACTIVE EXAMPLE OF THIS POPULAR AND INFLUENTIAL WORK ON GLOBES, which appeared in ten editions before 1768. Second edition. A one-time blacksmith, Harris was discovered by Hally after moving to London in 1724. He was sent on two voyages of the Indies to test navigational instruments, and the present work was first published in between the two voyages.
