FIRST EDITION, 3rd state Front. & illus. by Robert Cruikshank, 3pp ads. Orig. drab wrappers, printed in black; small split at head & tail of spine, otherwise a v.g. copy. Wise 68. The third state, with the blank leaf cancelled and the subsequent numbering re-set. Montagu's preface considers the origin of the work, 'one of the most strikingly original poems that ever appeared'. He notes that it has been attributed to both Coleridge and Southey, 'and was published in the collected works of the former by Pickering, and in the Paris edition of the works by the latter'.
