The author, an internist, rheumatologist, and basic researcher in psychoneuroimmunology, shows connections between adverse childhood experiences and typical adult sequelae. He heads the Laboratory of Experimental Rheumatology and Neuroendocrine Immunology, Department of Internal Medicine, at the University Hospital Regensburg. His nonfiction books "Altern, Müdigkeit und Entzündungen verstehen" (2018) about understanding aging, fatigue, and inflammation, and "Drei Gedächtnisse für den Körper" (2020) on the three memories of the body have been published with Springer.
