First edition. x, [2], 456 pp. 8vo. John Miles was a physicist for the DuPont Company who oversaw recruitment of other physicists for the Manhattan Project. He worked at the University of Chicago Met Lab and at Hanford and according to physicist David Hall's interview on the Voices of the Manhattan Project website, Miles was responsible for "shepherding" the DuPont physicists who went there to oversee the construction of plutonium reactors. This was edition of the report was his personal copy and is heavily marked up and annotated in his hand and includes tipped in graphs relating to thermal radiation and underwater radiation containment annotated in pencil in the hand of Miles. Black boards, light rubbing, near fine copy without dust jacket. Owner signature of John Miles Corner Ketch, Aug. 1950, marked and annotated in his hand.
