First edition. [4],72pp. 8vo. The first edition of an account of a journey, undertaken in 1734 by a group of exiled Salzburgers, from England to Charleston, South Carolina and then to Georgia. The pamphlet consists of extracts of journals maintained by von Reck, the leader of the journey, and Bolzius, one of the ministers of the settlement. Upon arriving in the new colony of Georgia, the exiles were settled by James Oglethorpe at a location on the Savannah River to be known as Ebenezer. The account describes life in 18th-century Georgia, providing details regarding geography, farming, and developing towns such as Savannah.
