Compiled by Anne Tower Moir, Countess of Drogheda, the book details the history and lineage of the prominent Moore family, an English family that settled in Ireland during the 16th century. This lineage went on to hold noble peerages closely tied to the town of Drogheda, including the titles of Viscount Moore, Earl of Drogheda, and Marquess of Drogheda.(8)143p teg; folding pedigree charts of the Moore family in Kent, the Moore family in Ireland, Moore of Drumbanagher, Clifford family and the Loftus family. Well illustrated with sepia photos, portraits, coats of arms etc. Association copy with additions - Handwritten on prelims: "In Remembrance of the writer and of me, with my love B.K.C. March 1924". Tipped in is a letter from Lord Dufferin on mourning paper written to Lady Drogheda regarding the production of special bookplates; a printed offprint titled "The Proprietors of the Manor of Monasterevin in the sixteenth century with handwritten note regarding same; and an original letter addressed to Lady DSogheda dated 1907 from W Le France regarding "Le Compte Moore" (Charles Lord Moore?) and a further letter on mourning paper dated 1900 regarding Lady Drogheda's inquiry of Lord Dufferin as to whetherAlice, Countess of Clanbrassil poisoned her husband. The book is clean and tight in original grey boards with marbled endpapers; armorial gilt design on front board., Some edge wear alongside and at top of spine but still very good condition.…
