Good, strong copy in the original gilt-decorated red cloth boards, now somewhat dust-dulled and with minor stains speckled to the margins. Cover edges, joints and endbands show minor wear. Endpapers and text edges lightly foxed, rarely reaching the margins; p. 239 through the end shows an ink stain to the lower margin, with the text unaffected. The interior remains otherwise tight, bright and clean. A well-preserved example overall. Provenance: Cecil Durrell's copy, with his autograph and dated 1911.
