A propos de cet article

See photos for condition details. Flex board exterior, covered in light brown cloth with red text on front. The exterior shows spotting and soiling along with a few scuffs and minor wrinkles. Signed by previous owner R.S. Sgt H.(?) Shenk (?) from the Headquarters103rd Ammunition Train, 28th Division of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) while located in France. There is some pulling/thin hinge crack at the half title page but otherwise binding is good. Pages show light toning but are overall clean with the exception of a few scattered spots and foxing marks. No other handwriting than what is on the first end page. The front pastedown shows some creases along the bottom edge and there are some creases along the bottom throughout the book. The Foreword describes the book as “A Pocket Guide intended to serve the immediate needs of field artillerymen in the Army of the United States, not with the idea of making them expert in any particular detail, but that they may have a general understanding of the fundamentals of their duties.”. The book itself contains various chapters on general definitions, dismounted and mounted formations, mounted drills, cannoneers drills, gun squad-three inch, gun squad four point seven inch, gun squad six inch, anti-gas, cordage, emplacements, Field artillery information service, reconnaissance, guard duty, gunnery, harnessing, personal hygiene and first-aid, instruments, horsemanship, horse diseases and cures, cleaning, roles impacts, insignia, signaling, tents, English-French conversation, bugle calls, drill signals and other music scores including funeral march, along with various measuring and range tables.…
